I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in addiction from Colorado State University and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of San Diego. I specialize in addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, relationships, and grief. I have extensive experience working in addiction treatment centers.
As an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) trained therapist, I am passionate about working with trauma survivors. I utilize EMDR as a therapeutic modality that facilitates the rapid processing and healing of traumatic events from the past that may contribute to PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder) and negative self-beliefs. I also utilize CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and IFS (Internal Family Systems) to heal long term patterns of anxiety, depression, and addiction.
Managing painful emotions, past experiences and life's ever-changing challenges can be overwhelming; therefore, it is my goal to create a warm, empathetic atmosphere where you feel comfortable to begin your journey. I believe in healing and the "light of joy" that occurs when you do the uncomfortable work. I am committed to your process and through collaboration; we will identify and work towards helpful and healthy thinking patterns, behaviors, and beliefs so you can ultimately live your happiest and most functioning life.
